The Epidemiologic Research Council of the Korean Stroke Society published the "Stroke Statistics in Korea" for the purpose of helping the Society to achieve its vision and mission, reduction of the national burden of stroke by decreasing the incidence of stroke and the disabilities caused by stroke up to 10% within the next 10 years. It was designed to be a representative, comprehensive, comparable and focused report on stroke epidemiology in Korea. With this report, the Council hope to give clinical scientists reliable resources to guide their researches and to provide health policy makers trustable data to help them make decision. The Council produced as a total of three publications, 1) Stroke Statistics in Korea 2018, a full text containing comprehensive statistical data related to stroke, 2) Stroke Fact Sheet in Korea, a publicity document for general population and 3) Executive summary paper, published in Journal of Stroke, 2019 (Journal of Stroke 2019;21(1):42-59)
